Susan's sketchbook log: Buenos Aires

Stormy weather

thunderstorm, Buenos Aires - found paper collage

It wasn't all clear sailing. A series of late spring thunderstorms provided a show from the loft windows (when I was lucky not to get caught out).

One of them dropped six inches of rain in an hour in parts of the city, causing dramatic flooding; I was mesmerized by seeing on TV a VW floating down a street I had walked on days earlier.

And not all of the issues could be blamed on Mother Nature. Almost daily there was SOME disruption or strike. It was weird getting robocalls saying, "This is the government. Do not put your garbage out tomorrow..." Those came the night before a general strike pretty much shut the country down... except for the Japanese Garden. It was open and doing a booming business.
