Slide Rock State Park
Slip Sliding Away

A few miles north of Sedona in Oak Creek Canyon is Slide Rock State Park.

It's known now for a stretch of slippery creek bottom where you can slide down a slick natural water chute, but strangely enough it's the site of an historical apple farm -- some Black Arkansas apple trees are still there.

The apple packing shed from 1932 is still standing (and a shady bench beside it made for a wonderful painting locale).
