A call to Arms The Plaza de Armas is the home to a bunch of second-hand booksellers (left). It was fun to bargain a little bit for a book of Cuban poetry. We also saw Old Havana from the east side of Havana Bay (below), from the almost deserted Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabaña, a fortress that took eleven years to build in the mid 1700s. Apparently it was so big and expensive, that upon its completion Carlos III, the Kind of Spain who financed it, asked why he couldn't see it from Madrid!
